D7 Visa or Passive Income Visa Program
The Passive Income Visa Program or D7 Visa is a program that provides residency status to non-EU individuals, (including retirees) who can prove they have regular and reasonable income to live in Portugal.
By successfully applying to the D7 Visa you get the following benefits:

- Bring any dependent children and parents
- You get VISA-free entry in to all 26 Schengen area countries
- You can create a Business or take a job in Portugal
- You can apply for NHR (Non-Habitual Resident) Tax regime
- After 5 years you can apply for permanent residency or Portuguese citizenship
- You automatically get Portuguese residency rights like free Healthcare and free Education
When you apply for the D7 you have to prove you have passive income – which is any income not originating from a salary you earn in your country of origin.
This includes any income such as pensions, rents, dividends and capital gains and certain types of investment income.
